This recipe reminds me of my childhood. By far my favorite banana bread recipe. Super moist and goes great with a morning cup of tea.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan (Line pan with parchment paper for easy removal).
In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and ground flaxseed (optional).
In a separate bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar. Stir in yogurt (optional), eggs, mashed bananas and vanilla until well blended.
Stir banana mixture into flour mixture; stir just until moistened. If adding chocolate chips and nuts, fold in now.
Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1-2 tablespoons of turbinado sugar on top.
Bake in preheated oven for 60-65 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack. Let cool and enjoy!
This recipe is my go-to banana bread recipe. It is moist and flavorful and reminds me of my childhood. It is super simple to make and so satisfying. I love it which chocolate chips and sometimes nuts. It is the perfect morning snack with a cup of tea or an after-dinner treat that will leave you dreaming of moist banana bread. It's hard to mess up and I easily substitute ingredients for healthier alternatives. Enjoy!
TIP: Use mini chocolate chips or roughly chop regular size chocolate chips. If they are too large, they will sink to the bottom when cooking.
